Perhaps the most photographed area of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Painted Canyon is easy to access right off the main highway. However, when Matthew visited it was closed, but did sneak through the main gate to capture his last sunset of the trip. Painted Canyon is the best view to showcase the vast badlands landscape of North Dakota and the widest range of colors.
