Definitely the most visited part of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the South Unit is pretty accessible by vehicle, but also provides tremendous hiking out into the different zones. Matthew elected to visit in the late winter, to minimize the number of fellow visitors in the park and maximize the potential exposure to the different wildlife.
